Peter O’Toole, Elizabeth Taylor, and Richard Burton getting sloshed and looking strikingly cool while doing so!

Why should I subscribe to Madwomen & Muses?

Why subscribe? Madwomen & Muses is a vibrant newsletter that updates about three times a month for free and paying subscribers. I am a film critic at New York Magazine/Vulture who is based in Chicago and from the South. Miami by way of Loreauville, Louisiana to be specific. The best compliment I’ve ever received was from a good friend over board games telling me I am “deliciously vulgar”. I aim to bring that delicious, piquant vulgarity to my writing. I write about film, anime, pop culture, blackness, mental illness and desire. I write the wound. I write in search of pleasure, understanding, and history. I write to make sense of the worlds I move through. I write to craft a record of this fraught historical moment. I write for the lovers and the mad. (Logo and banner for the site by Theresa Slate)
